MA LANDSCAPE HISTORY

Our landscape is a living record of the way humans have interacted with the land; how we’ve exerted our will over it – and how it, in turn, has shaped our society.

Our Master’s course will arm you with the skills you need to read the landscape, as well as knowledge of the practical and theoretical issues involved in the study of the countryside.

You’ll study the relationship between human beings and the natural environment from prehistory to the present day. You’ll look at man-made and semi-natural spaces, such as wood pasture and heaths, in the context of historical ecology. And you’ll examine regions – why they exist and the behaviors and patterns they create.

You’ll undergo intensive practical training in Geographical Information Systems, which will prove invaluable in your independent studies. You’ll discover where to seek out historical and archaeological information. And you’ll even learn how to read historic handwriting in our English Palaeography module.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Holders of an Indian Bachelor degree with at least 52% will be considered for postgraduate study. The requirement will vary depending on examination board and course applied for.

Holders of Indian Master’s degree study will be considered for postgraduate research MPhil/PhD studies. In exceptional cases some science applicants may be admitted from bachelors level

All applicants to the University of East Anglia must be able to demonstrate an acceptable level of English language before they can be admitted onto any course or programme.

IELTS* 6.0 overall with minimum of 5.5 in only two components and 6.0 in the others
