Our medicine degree offers an innovative approach to medical education, training students to become professional, compassionate doctors. You will benefit from a state-of-the-art curriculum; designed with local patients. We offer a warm, supportive and multi-cultural learning environment, where every student is treated as an individual. You’ll enjoy early patient contact and clinical placements in the NHS from Year 1. The programme is delivered by expert staff in the University and our associate NHS education providers. 

This course is open to international (Non EU) students and a limited number of places will be available for UK students from the North West of England and students who have taken the BSc Medical Sciences Foundation entry. Weighting will be given to UK Widening Participation students. UK applications from outside the North West of England will not be considered. Four regional UK scholarships offering full tuition fees and a maintenance grant are also available.

We remain open to applications from international (Non UK/EU) students for September 2020. Please note, due to the global health situation, interviews will be conducted remotely for the foreseeable future. There are a variety of different ways you can access our Preston city campus, whether by rail, road or air. Preston is well served by the M6 motorway both north and south and excellent cross country rail links. There are also two major international airports in Manchester and Liverpool John Lennon.

AAB at A Level. At least two science subjects to include Chemistry and a third academic subject.

Students must be able to provide evidence of sustained academic achievement (GCSE or equivalent to include English Language B or higher) with a broad study of Science and Math up to the age of 15-16. UK applicants not meeting the English Language requirement should read the detailed entry requirements via the link below. English as medium of instruction will not be accepted for any student.

A recognised honours degree in any science subject at 2:1 or above or equivalent or, a recognised degree in a health care profession at 2:1 or above or equivalent with at least one year’s professional work experience. (A master's qualification or higher degree does not compensate for these degree requirements).

In order to process your application, we will require:

Evidence of English Language proficiency. If you cannot send us a completed English Language qualification or test, we will accept official evidence that you have booked a test such as IELTS.
 One satisfactory academic reference – this must include predicted grades if you are still studying
Personal statement

A copy of your passport (photograph page) and any visas you hold or have held to be in the UK

Our entry requirements state that international students require IELTS of 7.0 in all components. Before entering phase 2 of MBBS and in line with GMC recommendations, students on the MBBS programme must achieve the required NHS standard of IELTS to progress to Year 3 of the course due to the importance of language competency for clinical placements. Before Year 3 of the MBBS, students must achieve the equivalent of an IELTS score of at least 7.0 in each testing area (speaking, listening, reading and writing), and an overall score of 7.5. The scores must be from the same ‘academic version’ of the test and the certificate must include the original stamp and test report form.
