Clinical Dental Technology, BSc (Hons)

This ground breaking course is the first of its kind in the UK. The course gives students the opportunity to train both as a dental technician and a clinical dental technician who can work within dental technology and primary care dentistry.  Primary care dentistry is delivered by the whole team in which the role of the clinical dental technician is an increasingly important part. The structure of the course is exciting and innovative in that the dental technology and the clinical training are fully integrated. The course is also integrated with the BDS and dental therapy courses. The clinical dental technology students study alongside the dental and therapy students and share common modules. The school is already renowned for the depth of clinical experience its current students gain during their training.

The first two years of the course will involve training in our on-site dental laboratory and patient contact will be in our purpose built UCLan Dental Clinic. Technical and clinical team skills are reinforced in Year 2 and in Year 3 when students will have the opportunity to gain experience alongside the BDS students at one of our Dental Education Centres.
