BA Accounting and Business – The Flying Start Degree Programme

This four-year programme gives you the benefit of going to university, getting paid work experience and fast-tracking your career. The programme has been developed in partnership with PwC, the UK’s leading professional services organisation, and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
Henley Business School is ranked 16th in the UK for Accounting and Finance (Times/Sunday Times University Guide, 2019) and 7th for graduate career prospects (Guardian University Guide 2019).
This is an innovative, challenging degree designed to accelerate your route into employment and your progress towards a professional accountancy qualification. You will gain a strong academic and professional foundation in business and accountancy and complete a significant proportion of the work experience and technical study requirements needed to qualify as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant.
The application process for this degree includes a unique assessment day run together with PwC. This involves a group exercise and an individual interview with the PwC team.
In the first year, you will study alongside other students at Henley Business School – in keeping with the traditional university experience. You will gain a thorough grounding in fundamental aspects of accounting, business, ethics and law. In the second and third years, you will combine academic study with paid professional work placements at PwC, lasting 12-16 weeks each. Your fourth year will include a final work placement of 16-20 weeks. During the three placements you can expect to earn a competitive salary, offsetting a significant proportion of your tuition fees or living costs.
By the time you graduate you will have completed modules that give credit for prior learning for 12 out of 15 professional examinations.
Graduates who achieve a 2:1 and perform well on placements are likely to receive an offer of employment from PwC. You will be approximately one year away from achieving full ICAEW Chartered Accountant status – a huge advantage when entering the accounting profession.
