Master of Laws in International Shipping Law
Overview
Shipping law offers you a challenging global career. Ninety per cent of world trade is carried out by sea. Contracting parties frequently select English law as the applicable law of shipping contracts, and London is often chosen as the forum for the resolution of any disputes. Study in London and be taught by international maritime law experts from the Centre for Commercial Law Studies.
- Study close to the British Maritime Law Association (BMLA) - the UK subsidiary of the Comité Maritime International (CMI) as well as the London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA)
- Enjoy the contribution of distinguished guest speakers, including legal practitioners from City law firms with many years of experience in maritime law, and experts from the International Maritime Law Institute (IMLI)
- Your fellow students will come from the UK and more than 80 other countries, each able to draw on prior academic and professional experience from different jurisdictions

We normally consider the following qualifications for entry to our postgraduate taught programmes: Bachelor Degree (minimum 3 years) from selected institutions.
- UK 1st class degree: 70% to 80%
- UK 2:1 degree: 60% to 70%
- UK 2:2 degree: 50% to 60%
