Graduate certificates are intended to develop your knowledge and skills in a subject area that is different from your first degree's major. You may be eligible if you haven't studied for a degree before if you can demonstrate an interest in the subject area and a satisfactory academic ability. By choosing to study a graduate certificate you can quickly develop career competency in a single subject area.

A graduate certificate is a shorter version of a graduate diploma, is studied at the undergraduate level, and can be completed in the equivalent of one semester of full-time study.

When you study Maori Media and Communication you'll gain an understanding of traditional and contemporary forms of Maori communication. You'll explore the historical, political, cultural and social contexts of media and communication practices and how these relate to and interact with Maori communities and Maori cultural preferences.

The program will set you up with a foundation to develop the skills to analyze and comment critically on the development of Maori media, policy creation and the representation of Maori in modern practices.
