B.Tech Biotechnology

Biotechnology is a multidisciplinary  branch  of  engineering developed with vision to prepare graduates with expertise in biological engineering. Initiated in the year 2009 the course was designed to  impart in-depth knowledge  to students in various areas of biotechnology  so as to meet the demand of  industry and academia.  It is a four year (8 Terms) programme whose curriculum  includes courses from biotechnology and engineering together with relevant laboratory programs, and a  research project. The course covers subjects like Biochemistry, Microbiology, Immunology , Bioprocess engineering , Instrumentation and Bioanalytical Techniques, Enzymology, Basic Computational Biology and other regular subjects. The multidisciplinary essence of the course is maintained by offering the students open electives subjects from departments other than our own. Owing to flexible structure of the course a student can choose subjects from an array of departmental and interdepartmental electives. This prepares the student for fields with future challenges and intended area of specialization. The department has a strong interdisciplinary research and teaching base in biological sciences and engineering which prepares the student for industry as well as research programs.
