Master of Management (International Business)

You may not have previous international business experience, but have found yourself a manager of staff working in this area. Or you may be looking at moving into a management role in the international business area. If so, Massey’s Master of Management (International Business) will increase your understanding and expertise in international-business related skills and knowledge. Such expertise is particularly relevant when working for firms  in countries with small domestic markets (like New Zealand), where internationalisation is an imperative.

Exporting, internationalisation, and managing in a multinational environment

You will  learn and gain practical insights about:

  • essentials of exporting, including international market choice, basics of foreign exchange, international marketing and logistics
  • the underlying trade and internationalization theories  
  • how to grow a multinational enterprise across diverse cultural, administrative and political, geographic and economic environments
  • strategies to enter foreign markets
  • strategies to compete successfully in international markets
  • how to respond to cross-cultural management challenges such as working in multicultural teams
  • how to respond to grand challenges in global markets (sustainability and resilience in times of crisis).

Real-world learning

We place a high emphasis on applied hands-on experiential learning activities. Teaching focuses on current affairs and uses practical teaching cases to illustrate course concepts and their application in internationalization challenges. A 60-credit project in your second year examines a real-life case study. You will learn from our business experts – Massey University has the largest and one of the most highly respected management schools in New Zealand.

Gain an international qualification

This qualification has a ‘dual award’ option which allows you to gain a dual degree from both the University of Greenwich (London, England) and Massey University. With this option you will study for at least one semester in England.

Auckland campus

Massey University’s innovative Auckland / Oteha campus is located on the North Shore of New Zealand’s largest city – Auckland. The campus grounds are peaceful with many native trees and plants, yet it’s only a five minute walk to the expansive Westfield shopping centre with its movie theatres, shops, restaurants and numerous fast food outlets. If you want to travel further, there are buses running regular routes around the North Shore region and into Auckland city.

PSW Opportunity

  • During study, all students on a student visa can work up to 20 hours per week during semester and full time during vacations.
  • After completing Level 7 Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Qualification, a student will get a three years open post-study work visa.
  • After completing Level 8 Post Graduate courses of 1 year, students get 1 year PSW.

Masters, postgraduate diplomas and postgraduate certificates An appropriate undergraduate degree from a recognised tertiary institution is required

  • IELTS- 6.5 (no band less than 6.0)
  • TOEFL iBT- 90 overall (min 20 in Writing)
  • PTE Academic- 58 Overall (min 50 in communicative skills)
