Theoretical Physics MPhys Honours (F344)

The first three years are similar to our Theoretical Physics BSc Honours degree.

You will learn about the advanced mathematics that underpin our understanding of the natural universe and physical processes.

In your final year, you gain a deeper understanding of the theoretical underpinnings of physics, through advanced research-driven modules. This prepares you for a career in physical science or research, including study for higher degrees.

In your final year, you will cover a range of research topics, including: 

  • quantum information
  • general relativity
  • astronomical fluids

You study theoretical and computational physics and work with academics to plan and deliver an extended research project in an area of mutual interest.

You may choose to complete a work placement as part of your project, helping you enhance your CV and develop contacts in the workplace.
