MSc Management
Managing teams across a business requires specific skills. On this course, you’ll explore management styles and how to apply them. We’ll also help you identify your own style and hone the skills you need to relate to employees across organisations and cultures.
This course is open to applicants from all subject areas, not just business and management. The field of management is so varied that you can adapt the skills you have learned from your previous studies to shape your future career.
Developing your career in management
You’ll start by developing skills in marketing, finance and supply chains. After building up your knowledge in these essential areas, you’ll move on to the strategies that help give organisations an edge in a global market. Then put your new expertise to use in your dissertation.
You’ll start working on your career from day one, with regular contact with professionals and plenty of opportunities to work on industry projects. You could be helping one of the 80+ businesses based at our Innospace incubator.
There are two routes in this course. If you take MSc Management, you’ll study critical enquiry for entrepreneurs and leaders, and critical management studies. These units focus on understanding organisations in their socio-political context. Your dissertation will then look at a particular challenge a business is facing.
If you choose the MSc Management and Consultancy route, you’ll study managing consultancy interventions, which gives you the tools to work with clients, followed by a live consultancy brief where you’ll put those skills to use working directly with a business. Your research project could follow on from that experience too.
We designed both routes to give you the real-world skills you’ll need for your career. And with your option unit, you can specialise further based on your own interests or goals.
