Classical Studies and English BA Honours (QQ83)

You study a variety of texts written in English alongside the culture of the classical world and will explore the connections between the two.

Roman and Greek literature and culture have profoundly influenced English novels, poetry, plays and films.

On this degree, you'll learn about the worlds of ancient Greece and Rome from a variety of perspectives, and uncover their legacy in our culture and the way we think today. You can also learn a classical language - we offer Greek and Latin from beginners' or advanced level.

We have exceptional facilities to support your studies, including our multi-award-winning Library and the Greek, Roman and Etruscan collections which make up the Great North Museum: Hancock.
