DPT Doctor of Physiotherapy (Pre-registration)
The Doctor of Physiotherapy (Pre-registration) (DPT) is a full-time program delivered using innovative teaching methods to assist and contextualize learning.
The overall aim of this program is to develop analytical, evaluative, creative, and skilled Physiotherapists with an entrepreneurial mind-set, who are responsive to professional, social, and cultural change. Our doctoral graduates will be confident, transformational, responsible, and empathetic practitioners, leaders, and global citizens able to implement evidenced-based practices within the public and private services, effectively evolving and influencing innovative local, national or global areas of practice and research.
This program leads to qualification as a physiotherapist, eligible to apply for HCPC registration as a practicing physiotherapist. Modules are delivered by experienced tutors, researchers, and invited academic and clinical lecturers who are specialists in their area of expertise.
Our close links with clinical and research specialists allow our students access to the most up-to-date clinical, research, and professional expertise within the university and practice settings.
The DPT is unique in integrating practice and research and is designed to produce graduates who are equipped to meet the current and future needs and challenges of health & social care practice and research.
Post-registration graduates can work in a variety of areas such as private practice, public sector settings such the hospitals, GP clinics or health promotion services, industry, vocational rehabilitation, schools, nursing homes, hospices, community-based rehabilitation programs, education, and research centers.

PSW Opportunity

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Postgraduate Taught
Bachelor's degree - GPA of 2.7/5.0 or 2.3/4.0
India
Four year Bachelor's degree (50% minimum; second class average over course duration)
Three year Bachelor's degree (60% minimum; first class average over course duration)
For programmes requiring an IELTS 6 with no element below 5.5 (or equivalent), we can accept 70% in standard XII English as evidence of English language
UK honours degree 2:1 (or equivalent) in a science discipline related to physiotherapy such as physiology, human biology, anatomy, kinesiology, sports science/medicine.
Experience of the process of research is essential. The honours degree must have contained a substantial element of human physiology.
A pre-entry negotiated learning module is available to applicants who have limited human physiology experience. Shortlisted applicants must attend interview. International applicants are offered a telephone/Skype interview.
Applicants should have an understanding of the role of physiotherapy practice and research within the current health and well-being agenda. Relevant visits to clinical locations, voluntary work or part-time employment in an area where the impact of disability is experienced are desirable, but not essential.
Students have to clearly articulate their motivations for applying to the DPT course.
