BEng (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Our undergraduate BEng (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree will provide you with the specialist knowledge and expertise required for a professional career in electrical and electronic engineering. With project-based learning in all years, including live industry-led projects, you’ll develop the transferable skills and the multi-disciplinary awareness so highly prized by industry.

You can choose to study our Electrical and Electronic Engineering course over three years, or take an extra year for a placement in industry. Whichever route you take, you’ll have all the skills and understanding you need to get started on your engineering career.

This degree is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology on behalf of the Engineering Council for the purposes of fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as an Incorporated Engineer and partly meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered Engineer.

Study Electrical and Electronic Engineering and in Year 1 you will learn the fundamentals of engineering science, applicable mathematics and practical and project skills. In Year 2, you will further develop your scientific and analytical skills through study of electrical energy systems, control engineering, and electronic systems design. You will also take on a specialist role in a group project and start detailed planning of your career.

Specialist projects in the final year, all informed by the Department of Engineering’s active research and industrial partnerships, will give you experience of the latest engineering challenges faced by industry and society.

26 IB Diploma Points including HL Mathematics AND HL 4 or SL 5 in English and Mathematics

IELTS SCORE REQUIRED FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
6.0 with no component below 5.5, taken within two years of course start date

FURTHER INFORMATION
Part-time course applicants: You should be working in an appropriate discipline, have 2 years professional experience and hold a HNC/HND or equivalent. Possible entry direct into Year 2 with HND. Equivalent qualifications considered and each application is considered on merit.
