B.Sc Nursing Studies (Adult)
Adult nursing is a dynamic, rewarding, and highly skilled caring, and compassionate career. You will develop diverse skills ranging from the delivery of health education for individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds to delivering complex care for people with multiple acute or long-term conditions.
This program aims to develop nurses who are able to deliver person-centered, safe, and effective care, working with other professions and agencies in an ever-changing and complex healthcare environment.
You will experience a variety of clinical placements and will learn using a diverse range of techniques and approaches. You will undertake clinical practice for 50% of the course, in community and hospital placements as well as independent and voluntary sector experience.
During placements, students are involved in nursing activities including providing care for a range of patients relevant to their chosen nursing pathway.
GCU's learning environment provides innovative, flexible, and effective opportunities to develop understanding and nursing skills, using methods such as a blend of online and face-to-face teaching and a state-of-the-art inter-professional simulation suite.
Your career
On successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible for registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). Graduates are equipped to apply for a wide range of positions in the NHS, working closely with patients, clients, service users, and carers, and also leading in management and research.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
India
Minimum 60% in each subject from XII Standard exams
Advanced entry to Level 2 or 3 can be considered with equivalent study from Bachelor's degree
For programmes requiring an IELTS 6 with no element below 5.5 (or equivalent), we can accept 70% in standard XII English as evidence of English language.
Undergraduate
High School Graduation Diploma completed with a G.P.A of 2.7 plus one of the following:
ACT Composite score of 24 minimum
SAT(post March 2016) – score of 1000 minimum
SAT (pre March 2016) – score of 1500 minimum
AP’s - Generally we are looking for 2 Advanced Placements at minimum grade 3
2 SAT Subject Tests at a minimum score of 500
For some programmes across our academic schools, we will require ACT or SAT combined with AP’s or SAT subject tests at higher grades or in specific subjects

Scottish Higher: Standard entry requirement: BBC (incl English) Nat 5: C (Maths/Lifeskills Maths)

A level: BC GCSE: C/4 (English and Maths)
ILC Higher: H3 H3 H3 (incl English) O4 (Maths)
IB Diploma: 24 points (incl Maths and English)
BTEC: MMP Ext Dip GCSE: C/4 (English and Maths)
SWAP: Access to Nursing - BBB (other Access Courses will be considered on an individual basis)
College HNC: Care and Administrative Practice with Essential Skills for Care Practice; other HNCs considered with Nat 5 level numeracy and literacy; HNC Applied Science considered with Stats for Science unit.
Year 2
College HNC: Care and Administrative Practice - graded unit B (incl successful completion of 600 clinical hours but advised to achieve as close to 620 clinical hours as possible in designated clinical area) Candidates need to obtain a minimum of 90% attendance at college and a minimum of 90% attendance at practice placement. Applications subject to interview and places and must be supported by the college partner.
English language IELTS score of 7.0 overall with 7.0 in each element except Writing which is 6.5 (or equivalent)

Modern Apprenticeships
If you have completed a Modern Apprenticeship at SCQF level 6 in a relevant discipline this would be equivalent to two highers at B.
