Diploma in Paediatrics

This diploma is for medical practitioners registered and working in New Zealand. Students are required to complete six months of pediatric training before the end of the study year.

Diploma candidates undergo a program of practical training and formal education, with significant online delivery.

Originally established as the School of Medicine, the Grafton Campus (opposite Auckland Hospital on the boundary of Auckland Domain) houses the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, including a café, health services, and the Philson Library.

Job Opportunity Potential

This programme develops the skills and knowledge to manage infants, children and youth with common and important health problems. PSW Opportunity

  • During study, all students on a student visa can work up to 20 hours per week during semester and full time during vacations.
  • After completing Level 7 Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Qualification, a student will get a three years open post-study work visa.
  • After completing Level 8 Post Graduate courses of 1 year, students get 1 year PSW.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

You must have completed, and held for at least one year, an undergraduate medical qualification such as the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB). Your study must have been at a recognized university (or similar institution).

Further programme requirements
 
You must also hold current registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand and you will need to have access to six months’ paediatric training whilst undertaking the programme.

Please note: No more than three of the six months can be in neonatal paediatrics, paediatric ENT, paediatric surgery, paediatric orthopaedics or paediatric neurosurgery.
