Postgraduate Diploma in Language Teaching

The PGDipLT is a professional language teaching qualification, combining theory with practice and familiarising you with current teaching approaches.

You will become familiar with current approaches in the field of second/foreign language teaching and will engage with both theory and practice.

You can explore a variety of areas such as materials development, course, and syllabus design, task-based language teaching, the structure of language and computer-assisted language learning.

PSW Opportunity

  • During study, all students on a student visa can work up to 20 hours per week during semester and full time during vacations.
  • After completing Level 7 Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Qualification, a student will get a three years open post-study work visa.
  • After completing Level 8 Post Graduate courses of 1 year, students get 1 year PSW.

Program requirements
 
You must have completed one of the following at a recognised university (or similar institution):

  • Any degree or professional qualification related to language teaching, and at least two years of second language teaching experience.
  • A Bachelor of Arts in language teaching, linguistics, a language, or a subject related to language teaching.
  • The following subjects may also be considered for entry: Asian or European Languages.

If you are an international applicant whose first language is not English you will need to provide evidence of your English proficiency.

You will require an IELTS Academic score of 6.5 with no bands less than 6.0.
