Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing)

This course is for people who are interested in working in the community or residential settings, supporting people who are elderly or people with disabilities.  As an Individual Support Worker, you will be able to make a real difference in people’s everyday lives, supporting them to maintain their independence and standard of living.

This is a highly practical course, including work placements in day centres and/or residential facilities. Graduates will be provided with the knowledge, skills and values to carry out activities related to maintaining and maximising the independence and wellbeing of people with disabilities and elderly. Students will interact with people with a disability to facilitate learning and also learn skills in an active simulated environment.

This qualification would suit people interested in supporting and assisting people and who have an interest in contributing to enhancing their independence and quality of life.

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.

  • Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
  • Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
  • Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
  • The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants

Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:

  • Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
  • Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
  • Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
  • PhD students can stay upto 4 years
