Bachelor of Nursing Science

You’ll receive plenty of hands-on experience, preparing you for work in the healthcare industry when you graduate.

After completing our program, you may apply for registration as a nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

On completion of your nursing program you will be required to meet the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) registration standards including English Language Skills and Criminal History. In this program you will:

  • Gain practical skills through 800 hours of nursing placement experience in clinical settings
  • Learn about anatomy and physiology
  • Understand the different health requirements for people of all ages and backgrounds
  • Appreciate cultural differences in delivering health care
  • Work with registered nurses, who will teach you latest techniques for health care

Students who wish to apply for credit from a Diploma of Nursing must have completed the qualification through a Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) approved education provider, and students hold current Enrolled Nurse registration with AHPRA.

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.

  • Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
  • Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
  • Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
  • The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants

Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:

  • Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
  • Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
  • Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
  • PhD students can stay upto 4 years

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

FOR INDIA

  • All India Senior School Certificate – awarded by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) with a minimum grade average of 60% or better in the best 4 academic subjects in final year and and overall First Division results;  or
  • Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) with a minimum grade average of 60% or better in the best 4 academic subjects in final year and overall First Division results;  or
  • State board exams, other than Punjab State Education Board (PSEB) and Haryana State Education Board (HSEB), with a minimum grade average of 65% average across the 4 best academic subjects in the final year and overall First Division results;  or
  • Punjab State Education Board (PSEB) and Haryana State Education Board (HSEB) exams, with a minimum grade average of 70% average across the 4 best academic subjects in the final year and overall First Division results; and
  • All applicants must have at least 50% in the theory component (where applicable) of any subject.

FOR BANGLADESH

  • Higher Secondary Certificate, Intermediate Certificate - Minimum GPA of 3.50 out of a 5.00 point scale.

FOR NEPAL

  • Nepalese Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) - Aggregate Division I and over 65% or GPA of 2.9 in final year, or
  • Nepalese Proficiency Certificate or Intermediate Certificate (issued by a NOOSR recognised Nepalese University or the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT))  - Division I (over 70%).

FOR BHUTAN

  • Bhutan Higher Secondary Certificate - Minimum 80% in the best 4 academic subjects (excluding Languages).

FOR SRI LANKA

  • Sri Lankan General Certificate of Education ('Advanced' Level) - Aggregate score of 3 over the best three academic A Level subjects where A=4, B=3, C=2, S=1

Post admission requirements

Students who meet the following criteria are required to take the Clinical Connections module before they can enrol in a clinical placement course in any given year of study:

  • Those who have passed a preparation for practice course but subsequently failed the clinical placement course.
  • Those who have transferred from another university with credit for a preparation for practice course but not the clinical placement course.
  • Those who have taken a break from their study for two or more consecutive semesters (including students transferring from another university with credit).
  • Those who have withdrawn from a clinical placement course prior to census date or have withdrawn retrospectively and have not completed a preparation for practice course within 12 months.

Completion of the Clinical Connections module formalises reintroduction to theory and supported practice, and ensures that students can proceed to clinical placement and meet NMBA professional standards relevant to practice at their level of study.
