Undergraduate in BSc In Civil Engineering

Taught entirely in English by world renowned Technion faculty, the prestigious BSc in Civil Engineering program trains future engineers to meet the infrastructure creation and modernization challenges of the 21st century. The program exposes students to structural, economic, and construction management aspects of the physical and natural built environment, water resources planning, geoinformatics and transportation engineering. Students also study the underlying applications of science and engineering to the improvement and preservation of natural resources through the deployment of clean technologies and infrastructure and renewable resource alternatives.

Program Details

The program prepares students for successful careers in the private, public, and governmental sectors in areas such as infrastructure and general construction, water resources management, wastewater treatment, water treatment and pollution, control, air and soil pollution and remediation and solid waste disposal. More particularly, the program focuses on management of the different stages of the construction process including a broad variety of tasks that require knowledge and skills in an assortment of management, economic, business, planning and legal areas, in addition to proficiency in classic engineering issues. The program also provides an introduction to topics related to the design and management of water delivery and supply systems, dispersion and trace pollutants in water bodies, water and wastewater treatment, recycling treated wastewater for use in agricultural irrigation, efficient use of water resources and development of new water sources. Mapping and geoinformation concerns with determination of the exact location (x,y & height) and extent of surface cover types using geodetic instruments, GPS, Laser scanners and spectral cameras, and the organization of the information in Geographic Information Systems will also be explored; this course will provide the engineer with basic tools for mapping a site and understanding geo-information. Transportation and road engineering and transportation sciences deal with the knowledge needed to plan, set up, maintain and manage efficient and safe transportation systems. The courses in this field cover such topics as design and operation of roads, junctions and interchanges, design of pavements and study of traffic flow characteristics. Graduates of the program will be awarded a BSc in Civil Engineering from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology

Option of Transferring to Regular Technion Programs (in Hebrew)

Students who have successfully completed the first year of the program have the option of transferring into an undergraduate study track in Hebrew offered by other engineering and science faculties at the university, provided that their Hebrew language skills are sufficient and that they obtain the required academic average according to Technion policies. Internal Faculty Transfer Students enrolled in a Technion International program who would like to transfer to another Technion faculty are responsible for inquiring with the faculty in question about its transfer requirements.

*Students can also apply to transfer their Technion credits to a university of their choice.

Academic Program

The BSc degree in Civil Engineering is comprised of at least 155.5 academic credits and can be completed in 4 years.

Orientation Week

Commencement Date: August 12 – 15, 2019

Attending Orientation Week is compulsory

Technion International also provides a comprehensive Orientation Week designed to familiarize students with the campus and surrounding neighborhoods, and to provide a general guide to student life in Israel. Preparation Period

Following the orientation week, students will undergo a Preparation Program, which lays the foundation for upcoming studies.

Owing to the wide and diverse backgrounds of our international students, it’s essential that all students will begin the academically rigorous BSc program on an equal footing. To ensure that students are fully prepared for the demanding course load, the Technion mandates that all BSc students successfully complete a 16-week preparation program. During this period, students undertake intensive training in mathematics and physics, learn basic Hebrew, and pick-up helpful study skills. Experience indicates that the preparation program gives students a greater chance of excelling in and completing their engineering studies here. This preparatory period allows students to become familiar with the university’s academic structure and get to know their peers through informative and enjoyable social activities. The program also provides students with individual tutors, extra classes and counseling as needed. Students must be prepared for a challenging and intensive period of study. A list of the Preparation Program courses can be found on the courses section.

Housing

Students are housed in private rooms in Technion’s new dormitory  complex consisting of five-person furnished apartment units, shared with international peers. Living on campus, they will enjoy a vibrant and welcoming student community, which will help them easily integrate into life at Technion.
