English For Academic Purposes (Upper Intermediate To Advanced)

The English for Academic Purposes Program (EAP) is structured at two levels: EAP (Upper-Intermediate) and EAP (Advanced). It is designed as a pre-university preparation program. The programs are intended for international students wishing to pursue studies at either undergraduate or postgraduate level.

The focus of each course is on Academic English skills needed for academic studies. This course will also prepare students for the cultural differences they may encounter socially and academically on campus. Such areas include understanding lecturer’s expectation, comprehending academic text, writing essays and various types of reports,performing seminar presentation,working in groups and developing students’ autonomous learning skills. The characteristics of the EAP program is that students will acquire language through actively engaging in meaningful enquiry-based tasks. It incorporates of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other online learning tools to facilitate productive learning through student collaboration both inside and outside the classroom.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

An entry requirement for the EAP Upper-Intermediate course is that students need to obtain IELTS proficiency of 5.0 overall band score (minimum 5.0 on writing) or equivalent, or completion of General English Upper-Intermediate.

An entry requirement for the EAP Advanced course is that students need to obtain IELTS proficiency of 5.5 overall band score (minimum 5 on writing) or equivalent.

Students are welcome to undertake an English language assessment at IIBIT Academy of English for entry into this program.
