BA in WOMEN’S & GENDER STUDIES (3 Yrs)

Women’s & Gender Studies is an interdisciplinary program exploring gender-based experiences, cultures, and political economy. Women's and Gender Studies is focused on developing a critical consciousness of societal inequalities including those based on social differences. It inquires into how people’s lives are made to matter through relations of gender, race, class, religion, sexuality, age, and embodiment, and how systems of power including colonization, racism, and sexism bear upon our everyday experiences. It fosters awareness of the realities and diverse lives of women, men, and trans folks, and advocates for social change. The interdisciplinary nature of the Women’s & Gender Studies program allows you to customize your university education to fit your educational and career goals by taking courses from a number of different disciplines or areas. You can get a Bachelor of Arts degree (3-year, 4-year, or Honours) with a Major in Women’s & Gender Studies. Students taking an undergraduate degree in another Major may choose to add a Minor in Women’s & Gender Studies as an additional area of interest.
