It teaches you the practical skills and knowledge to be able to plan, organize, prepare and cook food in a range of commercial workspaces including restaurants, hotels, clubs, pubs, cafes, and coffee shops.
You will learn how to produce dishes that are suitable for different cultural and dietary requirements, ensuring food safety and kitchen hygiene and workplace health and safety standards are maintained. You will be able to practice your cooking skills in the training kitchens and restaurants located on campus. These facilities will give you the opportunity to plan menus, work as part of a team, and serve a range of meals in a professional manner. This course is very practical and most of the delivery will be undertaken in a well-equipped simulated kitchen with all the required equipment that is usually found within an industrial workplace.
