Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising
If you want to continue to build your technical skills and be creative, then MST50119 Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising is the course for you. It will teach you more advanced fashion skills by placing a strong emphasis on conceptual design and development, fashion illustration, textile development, and manipulation techniques.
The course also covers digital print development, digital fashion and production technologies, and specialist patternmaking including CAD patternmaking and grading. It also allows you to construct high-quality garments including bras and swimwear, tailored lined jackets, boned bodices, and leatherwork.
When you finish this course, you will have all the knowledge and skills to design a range of garments, from identifying a target market, designing a design brief, producing patterns, and then final garments. The production of these individual ranges also includes corporate development such as label identity and all the relevant marketing tools required to promote and identify your products to the fashion industry. At the end of the year, you will curate a static exhibition to display your collection on mannequins for public viewing.
