Bachelor of Science (Nursing)

This course provides a wide-ranging program of simulated practice and fieldwork, advanced clinical skill development, biological, behavioral and nursing sciences, and the opportunity for an international study experience.

Your studies will focus on developing the skills and knowledge you’ll need to meet the demands of our changing healthcare system.

You will be encouraged to be an active, contributing member of an interprofessional healthcare team, which will give you the opportunity to study with different nursing and medical specialists in a range of fields.

You will gain strength, practical skills by completing a minimum of 800 hours of clinical placements in hospitals, private practice, and rural health settings.

Over the past decade, the campus has undergone some major changes, with a variety of stunning modern buildings now interspersed with the original 1960s architecture. The majority of Curtin courses are delivered on this campus.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

  • All India Senior School Certificates awarded by the Central Board of Secondary Education with an average of 65% in four subjects, one of which must be English (with 65% or better) or separate English competence OR Indian School Certificate (Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations) with an average of 65% in five subjects, one of which must be English (with 65% or better) or separate evidence of English competence.

You’re considered someone with work and life experience if:

You have left secondary education more than two years ago (i.e. who are not classified as recent secondary education applicants) and have not undertaken vocational education training (VET) or higher education study since then.

How we define ‘experience
‘Experience’ includes a combination of factors sufficient to demonstrate readiness for higher education such as mature-age entry, professional experience whether completion of the Special Tertiary Admission Test (STAT) is required or not, community involvement or work experience. Applicants may have undertaken non-formal programs that have helped prepare them for tertiary education or are relevant to the proposed higher education field of study.

You’re considered someone who studied at TAFE or have done an apprenticeship if:

Applicants with vocational education and training (VET) study are those whose highest level of study since leaving secondary education is a VET course. This includes study at a public TAFE or other VET provider, whether a qualification was completed or not. Applicants with VET study may have other qualifications such as a Year 10 or Year 12 secondary school certificate.

Applicants for the Registered Nurse Conversion Australian Registration Nurse Stream are required to submit supplementary documents with their application. 

Enrolled Nurse to Registered Nurse Stream

This program is for applicants currently registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as an enrolled nurse and holds a completed Diploma in Enrolled Nursing.

Please submit the following documents with your application:

  • Proof of professional registration
  • Please note that there are limited places are available for the Enrolled Nurse to Registered Nurse pathway.

Registered Nurse Conversion Australian Registration Stream

This program prepares registered nurses without current registration in Australia for registration. Internationally qualified nurses with current registration may seek registration within Australia after the successful completion of this program.
