Biochemistry, Master of Science

The Biochemistry MS program at CSU Pueblo prepares students for professional employment or for further advanced studies at the interface of chemistry and biology, and molecular biosciences including biochemistry and biotechnology.

The program combines the study of biology with chemistry courses, so that students may understand advanced knowledge to drive a scientific approach in bioscience-related fields.

Course work for this degree option includes several important classes at the intersection of the biological and chemical sciences, including advanced topics in cellular biology, biochemistry, and laboratory techniques.

Job Opportunity Potential

PSW Opportunity

Post-Study Work visa or permit, allowing international students on F-1 visas to work in the US after completing their studies, typically through Optional Practical Training (OPT).

Eligibility:
To be eligible for OPT, students must have been enrolled full-time in a US educational institution for at least one academic year and be seeking work related to their major.

Duration:
Students can apply for up to 12 months of OPT, either before they finish their studies (pre-completion) or after graduation (post-completion).

STEM OPT:
Students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields can apply for an extended OPT period of up to 24 months.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

English-proficiency requirements for all programs (except Nursing and MBA)

A minimum score of 500 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) paper-based test, a minimum score of 61 on the TOEFL internet-based (iBT);
A minimum band score of 5.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic test; or
A minimum score of 95 on the Duolingo English Test (for undergraduate programs only-excludes undergraduate nursing).
