Bachelor of Computer Science

Focuses on the practical and theoretical dimensions of computer science, and prepares students for careers in the fields of computing and software development.

The course emphasizes critical thinking and problem solving alongside discipline knowledge and skills, providing students with the opportunity to undertake complex computer science projects both independently and in teams.

Students are introduced to concepts including programming, mathematics, networking, databases, and security in their foundation year, before specializing in an area of computer science. Advanced topics in computer science, including artificial intelligence and distributed computing, are studied alongside the chosen area of specialization.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Academic Admission requirements (Band 3)

All applicants must meet the academic admission requirements for this course. The indicative or guaranteed ATAR is as published (where applicable) or academic admission requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:

  • AQF Cert IV;
  • Successfully completed 0.25 EFTSL of study at bachelor level or higher at an Australian higher education provider (or equivalent);
  • Undergraduate Certificate;
  • Special Tertiary Admissions Test;
  • University Preparation Course;
  • Indigenous University Orientation Course;
  • Aboriginal University Readiness Assessment; or
  • Experience Based Entry Scheme.

English Language requirements (Band 3)

English competency requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:

  • Year 12 English ATAR/English Literature ATAR grade C or better or equivalent;
