Bachelor of Laws (Graduate Entry)

This degree enables those with a Bachelors degree in other disciplines to complete a Bachelor of Laws in three years of full-time study or part-time equivalent.

For students seeking a career in law, this course equips them with skills for the courtroom and beyond, providing greater scope and options for a rewarding career in the legal, corporate, commercial and social justice fields. Students can add value to their degree by selecting elective units in specialised areas of law. Students may also participate in the Law Society Peer Mentoring Program, The Innocence Project, The Law Access Program and international mooting competitions to give them real-world experience and the competitive edge in the job market.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

The following course-specific admission requirements (Band 6) are mandatory and must be satisfied by all applicants.

All applicants are required to have a recognised Bachelor or Masters degree in any discipline. Alternatively applicants can have a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma, where in the opinion of the Course Coordinator, the student has appropriate experience/achievements since graduation to qualify them for admission to the course.

All applicants must meet the academic admission requirements for this course. The indicative or guaranteed ATAR is as published (where applicable) or academic admission requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:

  • Bachelor degree; or
  • Equivalent prior learning including at least five years relevant professional experience.

English Language requirements (Band 3)

English competency requirements may be satisfied through the completion of one of the following (Band 3):

  • Year 12 English ATAR/English Literature ATAR grade C or better or equivalent; Special Tertiary Admissions Test;
  • IELTS Academic Overall band minimum score of 6.0 (no individual band less than 6.0);
  • Successfully completed 1.0 EFTSL of study at bachelor level or higher in the UK, Ireland, USA, NZ or Canada;
  • University Preparation Course;
  • Indigenous University Orientation Course;
  • Aboriginal Student Intake Test;
  • AQF Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree;
  • Successfully completed 0.375 EFTSL of study at bachelor level or higher at an Australian higher education provider (or equivalent).
