Our students graduate not only job ready but industry ready, with practical work based industry experience, networking opportunities and career portfolio development, equipping them with the skills to succeed in a range of business careers.

The course offers fourteen majors across a broad range of disciplines, all created in consultation with industry, with many being professionally accredited and recognised with the relevant industry bodies. Students can choose up to two majors, a major and a minor, or, a major and a range of electives providing great flexibility in the course and giving students the opportunity to tailor their degree to suit their career aspirations. Students are equipped with the theory, practical experience and employability skills, including the leadership, teamwork, critical thinking, and communication and problemsolving skills. Graduate world-ready to succeed in a variety of complex, competitive and dynamic global business environments.

Important course notes

Cross-Campus attendance
Commerce students at ECU South West will be offered six common core units, selected units from the Accounting major and the opportunity to complete some electives on campus. In order to complete the Bachelor of Commerce, however, students should be prepared to complete the remaining units online or at ECU's Joondalup campus.

Internship option
The ECU Business Placement and Internship programs provide students with a unique opportunity to gain valuable real-world experience in a public, private or not-for-profit organisation. They enable students to gain relevant work experience, allowing them to develop professional networks, practice applying theory learned during their degree, develop skills and capabilities required to succeed in their chosen profession, and gain a better understanding of the nature of employment and professional conduct in their chosen industry.

Attendance requirements
The Internship Program forms one full semester of study and enables students to gain a minimum of 16 weeks (600 hours) of full-time work experience. The Work Placement program comprises 100 hours of work experience during the academic semester. Programs can be completed in all discipline areas, as well as general business opportunities.

PSW Opportunity

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.

  • Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
  • Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
  • Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
  • The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants

Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:

  • Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
  • Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
  • Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
  • PhD students can stay upto 4 years

All applicants must meet the academic admission requirements (Band 3) for this course. The indicative or guaranteed ATAR is as published (where applicable) or academic admission requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:

  • AQF Cert IV;
  • Successfully completed 0.25 EFTSL of study at bachelor level or higher at an Australian higher education provider (or equivalent);
  • Special Tertiary Admissions Test;
  • University Preparation Course;
  • Indigenous University Orientation Course;
  • Aboriginal Student Intake Test; or
  • Experience Based Entry Scheme.

English competency requirements may be satisfied through the completion of one of the following (Band 3):

  • Year 12 English ATAR/English Literature ATAR grade C or better or equivalent; Special Tertiary Admissions Test;
  • IELTS Academic Overall band minimum score of 6.0 (no individual band less than 6.0);
  • Successfully completed 1.0 EFTSL of study at bachelor level or higher in the UK, Ireland, USA, NZ or Canada;
  • University Preparation Course;
  • Indigenous University Orientation Course;
  • Aboriginal Student Intake Test;
  • AQF Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree;
  • Successfully completed 0.375 EFTSL of study at bachelor level or higher at an Australian higher education provider (or equivalent)
