You will learn about and be prepared to perform the key functions of the human resource management (HRM) role, for example, recruitment, selection, training, and development, performance and compensation management, in a context of dynamic workplaces, evolving workforce expectations, and shifting national and international government priorities.
You will also be equipped with ways to understand the strategic contributions people and their effective management can make to organizational performance. You will explore and critique real-world cases and authentic projects; develop strategic policies for organizations; analyze, diagnose and provide recommendations for implementing organizational change that maximize the impact people make to organizations. During your studies, you will also have the opportunity to complete an internship.

Real-world learning
You will be guided by our real-world academic staff who undertake cutting edge research and work with industry. You will have opportunities to learn about contemporary human resource management issues and global and local challenges from industry personnel. You will develop an enlightened way of thinking about how all organizations engage individuals working within those organizations through the process of working with industry partners in an authentic way.
Throughout your study of human resource management, you will be equipped with technology augmented knowledge and learning. You will develop critical thinking skills and technical capabilities for delivering organizational performance through people in the real world.
You will integrate theoretical knowledge and industry practice to play an integral role in aligning human resource capabilities with organizational needs. You will experience an authentic approach to assessment, where you are provided with spaces and opportunities to integrate and apply the content knowledge of various human resource functions, and evidence-based practice, to a broad range of real-world issues and environments.
The program is built around the key functions of human resource management and the value effective and efficient management of human resources (people) brings to organizations. Incorporated into the study area are the strategy, human resource analytics, technology, change management, and work-integrated-learning units. You will also develop personal, interpersonal and group working skills as a way to apply the knowledge base you’ve gained throughout your studies in professional settings.

Gardens Point
Gardens Point campus is located in Brisbane's city centre, beside the Brisbane River and adjacent to the City Botanic Gardens and Queensland Parliament House. At the centre of the campus is the Old Government House which was built in 1862 and re-opened in 2009.The faculties of Business, Law, and Science and Engineering are based at this campus.
