You may pursue general studies in theatre or specialize by taking courses in performing arts areas such as acting, design (scenic, costume, lighting), technology, directing, dramaturgy, playwriting, and more.
Miami’s Department of Theatre is an intimate community of students, faculty, and staff committed to exploring theatre and drama for personal growth and social change. Job Opportunity Potential
Our alumni work in all areas of the entertainment industry, from Broadway to major motion pictures and beyond. They also develop many highly valuable skills that make them valuable employees for any job; the communication and collaboration skills theatre majors develop are highly transferable. This major helps prepare students for opportunities including theater production or performance, as well as many related areas such as advertising, arts management, dance, television, film, live entertainment, recreation, and academia.
PSW Opportunity
Post-Study Work visa or permit, allowing international students on F-1 visas to work in the US after completing their studies, typically through Optional Practical Training (OPT).
Eligibility:
To be eligible for OPT, students must have been enrolled full-time in a US educational institution for at least one academic year and be seeking work related to their major.
Duration:
Students can apply for up to 12 months of OPT, either before they finish their studies (pre-completion) or after graduation (post-completion).
STEM OPT:
Students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields can apply for an extended OPT period of up to 24 months.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
First-year students generally need a state-certified high school diploma or equivalent. They also typically need to have completed four years of English, math, natural science, and social studies in high school, along with a year of fine arts. Transfer students need a minimum GPA of 2.0 in college courses.
