Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)

Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) is for people who are interested in working in the Disability sector to support people with disability in home and / or community settings. Learners will be provided with the knowledge and skills to carry out activities related to maintaining and maximising the independence and wellbeing of people with disability.

You will learn the importance of providing choice and control for people with disability and will learn specialist skills best practice approaches in skill development and person-centred support.

This qualification would suit people who value supporting and working with people with disability and who have an interest in enhancing and empowering people with disability to live their best life.

You are required to successfully complete at least 120 hours of work placement in a disability setting. This will be organised for you by TasTAFE. Shifts may occur anytime between 7am – 11pm – Monday – Friday. You will need to have an up-to-date Flu Vaccination prior to going on work placement.

PSW Opportunity

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.

Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants

Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:

Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
PhD students can stay upto 4 years
