Course description

The Master of Professional Accounting (Extended) is designed for students who wish to obtain specialised knowledge and research skills in accounting and related areas of business. Students will learn to apply advanced conceptual and practical accounting knowledge to undertake rewarding careers in accounting and related areas of business. This course also provides a pathway for further specialised learning as successful completion of the Master of Professional Accounting (Extended) may qualify students for associate membership to CPA Australia, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) or provide entry to the Chartered Accountants program of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ).

Course structure
To qualify for the award of Master of Professional Accounting (Extended), students must complete 16 units (200 credit points) comprising of:

  • 10 core units (125 credit points)*
  • Students must complete 6 units (75 credit points) from one of the following specialisations:

1. CPA Specialisation - Students must complete 6 specific units (75 credit points)
2. Finance Specialisation - Students must complete 6 specific units (75 credit points)

Maximum Academic Credit
The maximum level of credit that can be granted for the Master of Professional Accounting (Extended) is 50 credit points (normally four units). Up to 100 point of exemptions for students from Master of Professional Accounting programs from a recognised University.
 
 Please note:
Students who undertake the CPA Specialisation must also undertake the equivalent CPA unit directly with CPA. This will incur extra fees with CPA when undertaking these units in addition to their standard Course Tuition fees. Assessment includes CPA Exam and Additional Exam Fee payable to CPA Australia.

  • a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in an approved cognate field following on from a  Bachelor degree, or
  • a qualification deemed to be equivalent to any of the above.
