BA in Education, Mathematics & Business Studies
The BA in Education, Mathematics and Business Studies programme (post-primary) is a four-year, full-time, undergraduate concurrent teacher education degree (Level 8), currently offered at MIC Thurles. Graduates are qualified to teach Mathematics and Business Studies to honours Leaving Certificate level.
Graduates of the programme will:
Demonstrate subject knowledge, knowledge of curriculum content and process, and professional knowledge;
Engage in critical and analytical thinking, problem-solving, reflection and self-evaluation;
Engage in planning, teaching, learning, assessment, classroom management and organisation for the classroom and the school as a learning organisation;
Articulate a commitment to and vision for the development of the uniqueness of the pupil in all his/her dimensions;
Integrate and apply knowledge, skills, attitudes and values in complex and unpredictable educational settings;
Exhibit strong interpersonal skill and a readiness to be leaders and innovators of curriculum change; and

Mary Immaculate College is an autonomous, university-level, Catholic College of Education and the Liberal Arts. Founded in 1898, and linked academically with the University of Limerick, MIC is the oldest higher education institution in Limerick.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Undergraduate Entry Requirements
Standard XII examinations of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Metro State Boards or Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE), with first-division/class standing and a minimum average grade of 70%.
A language other than English and Mathematics must be taken as a subject up to Grade X.
Where there is a specific subject requirement for a specific programme (e.g. Math, Physics, French, etc.), a minimum grade of 70% in that subject at Grade XII is required.
Matriculation Examinations
From European countries where English is presented as a subject and an acceptable level is achieved.

A minimum score of 61 (with no section score below 59).
Duolingo English Test (DET)
The minimum score of 110 with no less than 100 in any component. An interview may also be required in conjunction with this test for certain programmes.
Results in examinations other than those listed above may also be accepted as meeting our English language requirements.
If students do not meet the English language requirements above, there are a range of short-term English language programmes offered at MIC.
