Public Health - Epidemiology Concentration (MPH)
The master of public health (M.P.H.) in epidemiology is designed to prepare students for a career in public health in either local, state or federal public health agencies or research settings. By providing students with a comprehensive foundation of population health principles, epidemiological methods and biostatistics and study design, the M.P.H. in epidemiology ensures students are proficient in the skills needed to successfully enter the public health workforce.
The M.P.H. in epidemiology is a 42-credit graduate program that includes courses shared across an interdisciplinary core as well as a required Applied Practice Experience and Integrative Learning Experience. Courses in epidemiologic methods and biostatistics are supplemented by courses in epidemiology content areas (e.g., cancer, disaster, public health surveillance) and public health electives from across the University of Delaware.
Requirements include a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related discipline with a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher; and a resume, statement of purpose and two letters of recommendation. A TOEFL score is required for all international students.
Applicants to the MPH in Epidemiology must submit an application and all required materials through SOPHAS – the Centralized Application Service for Public Health. MPH applications submitted through the University of Delaware’s graduate application management system will not be reviewed unless a full application is completed in SOPHAS first.
UD also offers an M.P.H. in health policy and management through the Biden School of Public Policy and Administration. The two M.P.H. tracks share 15 credits of core courses, but diverge in specialized coursework. Applicants to the M.P.H. must apply to a specific track.
