You will graduate with the confidence to connect with young people and teach from year 7 through to VCE. You will study a double major, selecting any two of the following stream specialisations:

You'll be ready to teach by undertaking a minimum of 80 days of supervised teaching placement with our partner schools throughout the course. Teachers are in high demand and you can teach across Australia in remote communities thriving regional centres or in our capital cities.You are required to sit the CASPer test as part of your application. Mt Helen Campus (Ballarat)
Located 10 kilometres from the Ballarat city centre, the Mt Helen Campus offers both TAFE and higher education study options. It is set on 110 hectares of parkland and natural bushland surroundings. Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.
- Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Academic entry requirements
- Successful completion of Australian Year 12 with minimum study scores of 25 in units 3 and 4 English or 30 for English as an Alternative Language or Dialect and Units 1 and 2 of Mathematics or Overseas Equivalent.
- Altus Suite (Casper)
- All applicants are required to complete Altus Suite as part of their application. Altus Suite is a requirement for many of the initial teacher training courses in Victoria. It is a non-cognitive online test designed to assess an applicant's personal and professional attributes. Altus Suite consists of two-parts, however only the Casper component is compulsory for Federation University applications. Essential requirements for enrolment and graduation
Literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education
Prior to graduation, students will be required to demonstrate they have achieved approved benchmarks in literacy and numeracy as demonstrated through the Literacy and Numeracy Test in Initial Teacher Education (LANTITE) before undertaking their final professional experience placement.
Working with children check
Applicants will be required to hold a valid Working with Children (WWC) Check prior to undertaking professional placements.
