Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education)
Become a confident and qualified early childhood teacher. You may be working in the early childhood field and want to upskill, be straight out of high school, or someone who is looking to change careers. Through this degree, you will discover how young children learn and how you can develop and support their learnings in these critical early years.
Our Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education) is a hands-on course that will get you into the classroom for a minimum of 80 days of supervised teaching placement so you can put into practice what you have learnt. You will develop the skills to teach in a variety of early education settings which may include kindergartens, pre-schools and long day care centres, including those in special needs settings.
A range of scholarships from the Victorian Department of Education and Training are available to help support your dream of a becoming an early childhood teacher, especially if you’re a regional student.
The Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care is a pathway into the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education). You may receive 1 year of credit (120 credit points) through this pathway.

Campus Information
Berwick Campus
The campus is located about 40km south east of the Melbourne CBD. It is only a five-minute walk from the Berwick Station on the metropolitan Pakenham train line, and adjacent to the Princes Freeway. The multi-level complex of modern architecturally-designed buildings is surrounded by spacious grounds with landscaped gardens and internal courtyards. It is also close to many facilities available at the attractive Berwick Village Centre.

PSW Opportunity
Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.
- Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Successful completion of Australian Year 12, or overseas equivalent.
- Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in any English
- Units 1 and 2, satisfactory completion in two units (any study combination) of Maths: General Mathematics, Maths: Mathematical Methods or Maths: Specialist Mathematics OR units 3 and 4: any Mathematics;
IELTS Speaking and Listening 7.0 Reading and Writing 6.0, or International Second Language Proficiency Rating (ISPR) test with a score of 4 or completion of a 3-year Bachelor degree (or equivalent) from the approved recognised English-speaking country list.
Applicants are requested to provide supplementary information to support their application as listed below.
Literacy and Numeracy Test: An alternative means of assessing your literacy and numeracy skills when Year 12 results are not available or suitable. If VCE Maths and English requirements or equivalent have not been met, a Literacy and/or Numeracy assessment is required to demonstrate the pre-requisite requirements. Applicants required to complete the assessment will be notified.
