Leeds Arts University
Leeds Arts University is the only specialist arts university in the North of England, our students enjoy a small, close-knit community in a creative atmosphere where anything feels possible. We believe this is the best environment in which to grow as an artist, designer, musician or filmmaker.
To a great extent, our reputation goes before us: Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth studied here, as did, more recently, Marcus Harvey, Damien Hirst, Danny Sangra and Omar Kashoura. However, we never allow complacency. We work extremely hard to remain a leading centre for arts education, choosing from among the brightest international potential to produce some of the most sought-after creative talent.
We recently received an 87% satisfaction rating in the latest National Student Survey, the highest ranking for any specialist arts university; in the Guardian 2019 League Tables we were ranked number one in the country in the Design & Crafts subject table; and at the Whatuni Awards we have won Best University Facilities twice in recent years (2014 and 2016) and came second in 2017 and 2018.

Integrated with Industry
We do everything to enable your future success. This means maximising your contact both with industry and practising creatives. We offer you the chance to take part in live briefs, performances, competitions, exhibitions, and work experience,
as well as developing your core business, entrepreneurial and professional skills. We provide you with opportunities to exhibit and perform in a variety of settings. Every June the doors to our end of year shows are thrown open to the public, media and the creative industries, many of whom are talent-spotting and looking to recruit creative graduates.
Our Creative Staff
Excellent staff: student ratios mean you’ll benefit from as much attention and expert advice as you need to achieve your goals. We have been awarded Silver in the Teaching Excellence Framework, meaning our expert tutors deliver high quality
teaching and learning which is research informed. Our tutors and professional instructors are all highly experienced in their disciplines. Many of them continue to be actively involved in the creative industries so they’re well-connected and up to date
with current practice. They share two major goals: to encourage, support and develop you to reach your full potential and to prepare you to build a successful career after you leave us.
Our Excellent Facilities
We make sure that our students benefit from access to cutting edge facilities that are appropriate to their discipline. We invest heavily in our facilities - we have won the Whatuni Student Choice Award for the UK University with the Best Facilities in 2019, 2016 and 2014 (and came second in 2020, 2018 2017!).
Our Sites
Blenheim Walk is where our postgraduate and undergraduate degrees are based. It’s just a ten minute walk from the city centre. Our state-of-theart extension to Blenheim Walk opened in 2019. Vernon Street is our historic original building, and
is where our further education courses are taught. It is situated in the city centre, just a ten minute walk from the railway station
