INP Toulouse

The Federal University of Toulouse Midi-Pyrenees, which filed the project of interdisciplinary Institute of Artificial Intelligence called ANITI in March 2019 has just been labeled . This Toulouse project brings together more than 200 researchers from 33 research laboratories and some 30 companies with the support of local and regional authorities, in collaboration with the socio-economic and associative fabric.
ANITI, along with Grenoble, Nice and Paris, is part of the three 3IA institutes which will be set up this autumn for a renewable period of four years as part of the Investments for the Future Program of the Villani Plan. The goal is to make France one of the world leaders in artificial intelligence .
By relying on the Toulouse forces, Aniti will:

to foster synergies in research but also for the development and transfer of technologies;
study and experiment with hybrid AI;
respond to all societal challenges by identifying six priority areas of application (autonomy, human / machine collaboration, predictive maintenance in transport, preventive medicine and health, smart agriculture and predictive systems in environment and climate);
to bring citizens to participate in events of scientific and technical culture (debates, conferences, films, ...)
to meet the challenge of skills development, both for industry and research, in initial and in-service training, with the ambition of doubling the number of AI-trained students by 2023;
transform scientific results and research collaborations into sources of economic growth;
build a more reliable artificial intelligence, meeting the challenges of tomorrow.

On July 5th, an event brought together the academic, territorial and industrial partners involved in ANITI since the beginning of the project. This event allowed each and every one to meet the steering team, including Nicolas Viallet, new ANITI Operational Director since July 1st, 2019. Thanks to his past with Airbus and his will to carry a powerful project within the Federal University Toulouse Midi-Pyrenees, he draws the lines of conduct of the new institute: develop sustainably a responsible AI at the service of the industry of the future. With a focus on mobility, the richness of the regional ecosystem.
