Trinity Western University

Established in 1962, Trinity Western University is a private institution that is associated with the Universities in Canada, the Association of Theological Schools in Canada and the United States, Canadian University Press and the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities. The university was earlier known as Trinity Western College. It is considered to be the fourth-oldest institution in British Columbia. The university focuses on science, liberal arts and professional studies. It is known to be an associate of the Royal Society of Canada. The university began two-year programmes in 1962, and later on, by 1980, as the number of enrolments increased, it began offering bachelor's degree programmes. Presently, the university is managed and administered by 14 board members.

The university campus is spread over an area of 157 acres. It comprises Larsen Atrium, Alloway Library, Neufeld Science Centre, Fraser Hall, the Music Building and Stanley Nelson Student Centre. The campus consists of 33 buildings. It houses several departments such as the Department of Political Science, Department of History, the Department of English and the Department of Geography. The Music building houses the Department of Art, Media & Culture. The Faculty of Natural & Applied Sciences is set at the Neufeld Science Centre.

The students experience a calm learning environment at the campus. All the seminars, events, quizzes, fests and competitions conducted by the university are held within the premises. Several cafes and restaurants are set close to the campus. Many medical shops, general stores and stationery shops are located nearby the campus. The students are provided with all the facilities required at the campus. The managing committee at the university maintains the residential halls and facilities. In addition, the university has a satellite campus in Ottawa which is home to the department of business studies, political science, communications, international studies and history.

The university offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. There are about 4,000 students at the university. The undergraduate courses are divided into six schools and faculties, namely the School of Business, the School of Arts, Media & Culture, School of Human Kinetics, the School of Nursing and the School of Education. The two faculties include the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences and the Faculty of Natural & Applied Sciences. The students learn under skilled faculty members. The postgraduate programmes include courses Business Administration, Theology, Interdisciplinary Humanities and Nursing. The students get great opportunities to visit the industry and gain exposure. They also work as interns under professionals at notable organisations.

The university has a list of some notable alumni that includes Carolyn Arends (Author, songwriter and musician), Roger Cross (Television & screen actor), Bernie Herms (Producer, composer and musician), Jonathan Auxier (Well-known author), Paul Janz (Former international musician), Tara Teng (Beauty Pageant winner), Ryan Walter (Author) and Philipp H Wiebe (Professor of Philosophy at Trinity Western University).

Campus Information

Langley Campus

Trinity Western University is a 157-acre campus located outside Langley, BC, Canada. Its location is 45 minutes from downtown Vancouver and an hour from the North Shore mountains. Housing undergraduate and graduate programs, the campus includes residences, food services, health services, fitness centres, mail resources, sports facilities, a bookstore, a library, and an ecosystem study area.

Bellingham Campus

TWU Bellingham offers accelerated degree completion programs that allow students to complete a bachelor’s degree in approximately 24 months. The campus gives students the opportunity to remain employed fulltime while completing their BA in leadership, multidisciplinary social sciences, or psychology.

Ottawa Campus

The Laurentian Leadership Centre is TWU’s signature program in the heart of Canada’s capital. Students spend four months in residence at the historic Booth mansion downtown while pursuing a semester’s credits and a certificate in Applied Leadership and Public Affairs. In addition to the academic work, students intern with top positions in government, communications, non-governmental organizations, and corporations. The LLC also hosts Access Ottawa, a one-week program for high school students.

Richmond Campus

Our newest campus is built in the heart of Richmond as part of a new complex that will also include townhouses, five towers, and a community centre. Located in the heart of the city, TWU Richmond provides programs tailored to the urban and international audience in Richmond and Metro Vancouver.

Salt Spring Island Campus

The Crow’s Nest Ecological Research Area on Salt Spring Island is a 73-acre area dedicated to preserving and researching the area’s unique ecosystem. The area contains some of the few remaining Garry oak (Quercus garryana) meadows in British Columbia. These meadows and their associated ecosystems contain more plant species than any other terrestrial ecosystem in coastal BC, as well as a multitude of other creatures, including many species found nowhere else in Canada.
