A Ph.D. in Education takes the form of the Monash Doctoral Program – a Ph.D. for the 21st century. The program enables you to complete extensive, independent research on an agreed topic under the supervision of at least two expert academics. Your research will aim to improve teaching practice and extend your expertise and skills relating to pressing educational issues.
The thesis should make a significant contribution to human knowledge and theory, and demonstrate your ability to carry out independent research. The core research project is enhanced by professional development activities or coursework units that provide you with the skills required to make an impact in academia, industry, government, or the wider community.

Clayton
Clayton campus has around 26,000 students and is the largest of all eight campuses. It is located 20km south-east of Melbourne.
Peninsula
Peninsula campus is Monash University's third largest campus. It is about 40km south of Melbourne and has around 3500 students.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for EdD enrolment an applicant must have:
- the degree of Master of Education (Research) by research or Master of Educational Studies (by coursework and minor project); or
- a degree or it's equivalent in education or a cognate field with honors 1 or 2A; or
- qualifications which, in the opinion of the faculty board and GRC, are equivalent to, or are a satisfactory substitute for, any of the qualifications above.
In addition to one of the above, applicants must have at least three years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience as an educator in an educational or other institution approved by the faculty board.
