Deakin’s Bachelor of Environmental Engineering (Honours) emphasizes the practical application of engineering and scientific principles to produce industry-ready environmental engineers prepared to tackle the major environmental challenges of our time.
Students gain a breadth of knowledge across the environmental engineering discipline and the technical skills to develop sustainable engineering solutions to current and future environmental problems, such as water security, waste and recycling, pollution and contamination, and public health.
Through SEP499 Professional Engineering Practice, you’ll gain industry experience by completing at least 60 days of practical work experience in an engineering workplace, developing and enhancing your understanding of the environmental engineering profession, possible career outcomes, and the opportunity to establish valuable professional networks.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
- (standard class XII):- 65%
Entry for applicants with recent secondary education (previous three years) will be based on their performance in a Senior Secondary Certificate of Education, with pre-requisite units 3 and 4; a study score of at least 25 in English EAL (English as an additional language) or 20 in English other than EAL and a study score of at least 20 in one of the maths: mathematical methods (any) or maths: specialist mathematics. Applicants will be selected in accordance with the published Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) for that year.
Entry for applicants with previous Tertiary, VET, life or work experience: Prerequisites of English and mathematics as for year 12 school leavers (or equivalent). Entry will be based on their performance in:
- a Certificate IV in a related discipline OR
- a Diploma in any discipline or 50% completion of a Diploma in a related discipline OR
- successful completion of relevant study at an accredited higher education institution equivalent to at least two Deakin University units OR
- other evidence of academic capability judged to be equivalent for example relevant work or life experience
Maths Eligibility Assessment: Deakin University offers prospective students an opportunity to sit an online Maths Eligibility Assessment. Applicants who have successfully met English and all other course entry requirements for admission into relevant Engineering and IT courses, but do not have evidence of meeting the required mathematics prerequisite may be eligible to take the Maths Eligibility Assessment.
