If you’re seeking to transition to a career in education, the Master of Arts in Teaching allows you to earn both a teaching certificate and a master’s degree with just 36 semester credit hours. With evening courses available, you can complete the program and keep your full-time day job.

Choose from various certification areas and bands — early childhood-grade 6, grades 4-8 or grades 7-12 — and acquire core knowledge and skills so your future students will have the opportunity to flourish. Career Services Can Partner with Faculty and Staff
Faculty members can request a classroom presentation from one of our career counselors. Topics include writing effective cover letters and resumes, interviewing skills, and career assessments such as StrengthFinder test, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Strong Interest Inventory.

Career Services can also coordinate with alumni and industry professionals in order to facilitate a classroom visit. These visits can range from employer-led lectures to discussions on current industry trends and professional development tips.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Official GMAT, GRE or MAT scores must be submitted as required by the department of your degree program. Please see the catalog and/or website for the required scores.
Scores must be sent directly from the testing agency. Test scores should not be more than five years old. Before submitting a test score, determine if you qualify for a graduate test score exemptions.
If you were born or educated in a country where English is not the native language, you must demonstrate English proficiency prior to admission. You can meet this requirement by taking the paper or internet TOEFL exam, Intensive English Language Test (IELTS) exam, Pearson Test of English (PTE), or by successfully completing the ELS Intensive English Language program.
Your minimum scores must be:
550 on the paper-based TOEFL exam;
79 on the TOEFL (iBT) exam;
6.0 on the IELTS exam;
53 on the PTE exam; or,
You can successfully complete level 112 in the ELS Intensive English Language program.
Your scores cannot be more than two years old, and only those received directly from the testing center will be accepted.
