Bachelor of Science in secondary education
Students have the opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Science in secondary education in the College of Education and Human Development. Within the Secondary Education B.S. degree, students can choose to major in business education or physical education. Graduates of this program must complete a semester-long internship to meet state licensure requirements and be prepared to teach a specific subject in grades 7-12 in Nevada.
Students have the option of combining this with a degree in their content area - sometimes requiring no increase in the total credits required. Those interested in working toward secondary teacher licensure in agricultural sciences, atmospheric science, biology, chemistry, community health sciences, environmental science, geography, mathematics (B.A. or B.S.), microbiology & immunology, and physics must do so through the NevadaTeach Program.
