Sound and Music Production MSc
The MSc Sound and Music Production is an innovation-led course that enables students to develop high-level skills and knowledge across a range of production practices, recognising the essential role that music and sound plays in the creative industries. With an emphasis on employability and freelance working in both the UK and international Music and Sound sectors, students work on music production, advanced recording and mixing techniques, immersive and spatial audio technologies, and composition and sound design for games, film and media. The course concludes with a final production project that enables students to specialise in their chosen area of practice, and to develop routes into industry and employment. The course is designed with a future of work mindset, and equips students with critical thinking and leadership skills, along with the knowledge and understanding to needed to succeed in the professional and freelance music and sound sectors.
Based at our Park Campus, the course gives students the opportunity to work across our Music and Sound facilities, that include four studio suites, a dubbing theatre, music production labs, and our flagship space, the 22.2 speaker immersive audio lab.
We are part of UK Music’s ‘Music Academic Partnership’, and our students meets industry guests throughout the year, who deliver insights and masterclass workshops on the latest technologies and techniques.
Our industry networks and partnerships enable students to take up placements at music festivals, production houses and recording studios, giving them the experience they need to develop their skills portfolios and CVs, and make the step into industry practice as a working professional.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Entry requirements
- At least a 2.2 honors degree or equivalent in a business-related subject from a UK university or equivalent institution
- Or at least a 2.2 in an equivalent graduate-level qualification in a business-related subject from an overseas university or equivalent institution
- A comparable postgraduate or professional qualification in a business-related subject from a recognized higher education institution
- EU and international students need IELTS 6.0 overall (with a minimum of 5.5 in each component) or equivalent
India
