World Languages And Culture B.A. - Persian Emphasis

Students will be capable of identifying and appreciating differences between cultures and traditions with sensitivity to cultural nuance.
Students will develop a comparative understanding of world literatures and cultural artifacts in the context of a globalizing world, and an ability to situate texts in their cultural and historical contexts.
Students will be able to formulate and present cohesive, critical arguments about cultural texts utilizing close analysis of specific textual evidence and clear thesis statements.
Students will demonstrate knowledge of and engagement with relevant literary and cultural theories and methodologies. 
Students will be able to engage in research activities appropriate to their academic level and course of study.
Students will be able to speak, understand, write, and read at least one non-English language at the ACTFL proficiency level determined by the individual emphasis (see emphasis descriptions; language goals do not apply to CLCS: Cultural Breadth Emphasis.) Levels of ACTFL proficiency may differ by language based on State Department rating of language difficulty
