Computer Programming & Analysis (CPA) (Ontario College Advanced Diploma)

This three-year advanced diploma program provides you with the skills and knowledge to begin your career as a software developer. You will learn programming languages, program design and system analysis. Web concepts are integrated into all courses to develop active database web programs on a variety of operating systems. Advanced techniques are taught through professional option courses. 

You will demonstrate skills through a capstone project for an industry partner in your final year to demonstrate your skills and preparedness for a career in the industry. Graduates of this program will enter the industry with highly employable programming, database, software development and communications skills.

Open Sources and Seneca

Seneca has connections with top tier open-source companies such as Mozilla, creators of the Firefox web browser, and Red Hat, maker of the most successful commercial Linux operating system. In a variety of courses, you will have the opportunity to work with top tier developers on such projects.

Job Opportunity Potential

Work Study is a need-based program that applies to students (Domestic and International) in full-time attendance at Seneca, who are in good academic standing. Students are encouraged to find their own job opportunities by dropping off their resumes to different departments in the College. Once a job opportunity has been secured go on line and fill out an application. Please note that incomplete applications will be denied. The processing time for all applications is two weeks from the date that the application is submitted. Processing for all applications will begin after day 10 of the semester.

Work-integrated learning (WIL) is an experiential learning opportunity between Seneca, students and you — employers. We provide you with skilled and job-ready employees from more than 70 programs across various industry sectors. Currently we have the following opportunities available to employers for 2021:

Paid and Unpaid Job Opportunities
These opportunities are a minimum of four months in length (one semester) with typically full-time hours.

Employer-Led Projects
If you’re unable to hire students but have a business challenge or service need, employer-led projects (ELP) offer the opportunity to work with a group of students on a large-scale project.

PSW Opportunity

If your program was less than 8 months

  •    You aren’t eligible for a PGWP.

If your program was more than 8 months but less than 2 years

  •    We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for up to the same length as your study program.

For example, if you completed a 9-month program, we may give you a work permit for up to 9 months.

If your program was 2 years or more

  •    We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for 3 years.

If you completed more than 1 program

  •    You may be able to get a PGWP that combines the length of each program.

Each of the programs you completed -

  • must be PGWP-eligible and at least 8 months in length

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, or a mature applicant
  • English: Grade 12 C or U, or equivalent course
  • Mathematics: Grade 12 C or U, or Grade 11 U or M, or equivalent course.
