Associate of Arts in Economics
Economics is the study of how people make choices when faced with scarcity. Students will learn: 1) The economic problem of scarcity and it’s consequences for decision making by individuals, firms, and society, 2) To evaluate resource allocation and changes within markets and the economy using economic modeling, mathematical and graphical analysis, and 3) Government policy solutions to market failure and the effectiveness of such solutions. The knowledge and skills acquired from an economics degree is useful for positions in management, business, governments, and non-profits, among others. The versatility of an economics degree can lead to a variety of career paths: economist, market research analyst, financial analyst, and public policy analyst to name a few.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Evidence of High School Completion
All applicants must provide proof of graduation from high school (or equivalent) in the form of official records/transcripts with certified English translation (if necessary). Students should submit transcripts from all years of study at the high school level.
English Proficiency Requirement
Students whose native language is not English must submit proof of English proficiency. (IVC is not authorized to issue I-20s for ESL or AESL study). Submission of English proficiency test scores does not determine IVC course placement; the IVC ESL assessment test will be used to advise on course placement.
English proficiency can be met by submitting one of the following English proficiency tests:

- IELTS: 4.5
- iTEP: 3.5
- CAMBRIDGE ENGLISH: 160 (B2 First, C1 Advanced)

- EIKEN: Grade 2A (Original test score reports are required for the EIKEN test)
