Public History, M.A.
All students will showcase their knowledge of the theory and methodology of the field of public history as well as their content knowledge of a particular area of history at their portfolio presentations, where audience members can ask questions pertaining to their research and experience
All students will showcase their written skills by preparing a portfolio that consists of a resume, reflective essay, and materials that exemplify their public history work. For example, exhibit scripts, national registry nominations, posters and presentations.
Students will gain practical experience in a non-classroom setting, performing work appropriate to their concentration and interests, mentored by a working public history professional through an internship.
Students will demonstrate competence in two fields of history.
Students will produce significant contributions to scholarship prior to completing the MA thesis.
