Special Education (7-12) BACHELOR OF SCIENCE (B.S.)
You can make a difference in the lives of children with special needs by completing the bachelor of science degree in Special Education (Grades 7-12). This program prepares you to teach and meet certification requirements by the Nebraska Department of Education to teach children and youth in grades 7-12 who have one or more verified disabilities. We also offer a special education major for teaching students with one or more verified disabilities in grades K-6. Following successful completion of your bachelor's degree, you can pursue special teaching endorsements through our master's degree programs.
Special Education programs are accredited by the Nebraska Department of Education. Employment opportunities for persons with a bachelor's degree and with a teaching certificate in Special Education are outstanding! Special education programs are required in all public schools, and schools are experiencing a shortage of adequately prepared special education teachers. There are also great opportunities to pursue additional training at the graduate level in a variety of specific special education areas.
