Computer Systems Technician – Information Technology Infrastructure and Services (Diploma)
Humber’s Computer Systems Technician - Information Technology Infrastructure and Services diploma program prepares you for careers in information and communications technology (ICT). You will build a foundation in electrical and logic circuits, programming, and scripting. You will also learn about the main hardware and software components of your computer and different features to improve performance of computer systems.
The curriculum in the program prepares you for the role of a system administrator whose responsibilities include installation, configuration and managing various operating systems including Microsoft servers, and different distributions of Linux. You will develop hands-on skills working with virtualization tools and network infrastructure. As data and network security is an essential part of the system administrator’s role, we embed security essentials throughout the program. You will also learn about data centre technologies that support small- and medium-sized businesses. Working with public cloud infrastructure, you build your skills and understanding of integrating services in public cloud environment with organizations’ infrastructure. You will gain knowledge in supporting public, private, and hybrid cloud environments, and integrating cloud technologies and services.

If your program was less than 8 months
- You aren’t eligible for a PGWP.
If your program was more than 8 months but less than 2 years
- We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for up to the same length as your study program.
For example, if you completed a 9-month program, we may give you a work permit for up to 9 months.
If your program was 2 years or more
- We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for 3 years.
If you completed more than 1 program
- You may be able to get a PGWP that combines the length of each program.
Each of the programs you completed -
- must be PGWP-eligible and at least 8 months in length
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for admission, you must possess the following:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent including these required courses:
- Grade 12 English (ENG4C or ENG4U or equivalent)
- Grade 12 Mathematics (MAP4C, MCT4C, MDM4U, MCB4U, MGA4U, MCV4U or MHF4U or equivalent)
- Two Grade 11 or Grade 12 C, M or U courses in addition to those listed above
or
- Mature student status
or - College or university transfer status
